World Chat Rules of Conduct

Postby smash » Jun 24 2015, 3:27pm

Greetings, Agents!

It has come to our attention that the rules of conduct for world chat are unclear. Allow us to explain.

Everything posted in our public channels should be appropriate for ages 9 and up. For that reason, players are not allowed to post inappropriate messages to, or spam, the world chat.

Spam is defined as posting the same message, or variations of the same message, 3 or more times in 5 minutes.

Inappropriate messages include:

- Profanity
- Indecent or inappropriate language or pictographs, such as inappropriate emoji art
- Bypassing our language filter
- Sexually explicit content
- Language that promotes discrimination or hatred towards individuals or groups due to ethnicity, nationality, gender, orientation, or disability
- Sharing or asking for personal information, such as email, home address, or phone numbers
- Anything that is tortuous, defamatory, libelous or invasive of another's privacy or publicity rights
- Linking to or promoting illegal activity (e.g. drugs)
- Harass, advocating harassment, or making false accusations of another person or entity
- Impersonating the moderators or developers
- Publicly arguing against a silence
- Posting any content that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to destroy, interrupt or otherwise limit the functionality of any computer software, computer hardware or other equipment
- Promoting the use of programs to gain an unfair advantage

Please note that posting messages that include rows of stars (ex. "**** you*") can result in silences. This is how profanity filtered by the language filter is shown. Because of this, stars shown as a result of a filtered word, or deliberately used in place of inappropriate words, are considered inappropriate.

If a player spams or posts inappropriate messages to world chat, they will be silenced.

Baiting, or posting with the intention of causing other users to violate the Terms of Use is not permitted.

When a player is silenced, they will not be able to post on world chat or walls.

Silences can last

- 1 hour, for minor offences

- 24 hours, for major offences or repeated minor offenses

- Permanent, for extreme offences or repeated major offences

Please keep these rules in mind when posting on our public channels.

Thanks for the clarification SMASH! Hopefully it will result in less need for silencing players.

I don't see how there was ever any confusion about this. But thanks for clarifying, Smash.
