When the devs submit an update for SMASH Monsters they will have to abide by the new app regulations.
The requirement by Apple was implemented immediately on December 21st. The change is for new apps that will undergo review in order to be admitted to the AppStore. All previous apps are grandfathered in and not held liable to the new terms.
This can change the freemium model (commonly found on mobile games) for the benefit of the customer. As a customer myself I doubt that my purchases will change but I welcome the transparency. The drop rates must be visible on PC games in China by law. So, some games are already used to revealing that information and with no blowback either.
